The treatment of burns in the acute phase is usually performed in a burn unit, but after this period the burns leave sequelae that may benefit from some procedures to improve aesthetics and function:
- Correction of adherent, hypertrophic, enlarged, pigmented and bridle scars that limit movement
- Fat grafting of depressed scars, which also improves skin quality by introducing stem cells from fat
- Expansion of the skin by recruiting healthy skin to the surrounding tissues with the use of an inflatable expander, in order to create new quality skin that is then applied to the scarred area (removing the previously present scar)
