B. Toxin

Temporary treatment of expression lines

PurposeReduces expression lines caused by contraction of the facial muscles in the forehead, eyebrows and lateral eye area; it can raise the eyebrows and correct facial asymmetries, including sequelae of facial paralysis.
Duration15 minutes
AnaesthesiaNone or topical anaesthetic cream

What is it?

B. Toxin temporarily paralyses the muscles responsible for facial expression lines and wrinkles, allowing the skin to recover from years of contractions and forehead furrowing.

Dermal Fillers

Temporary non-surgical facial filling with hyaluronic acid

PurposeRestores or increases volume in areas of the face, temporarily increases projection and helps correct wrinkles.
Duration15 minutes
AnaesthesiaTopical or regional anaesthesia

What is it?

The injection of fillers is a non-surgical procedure — unlike fat grafting, which is surgical — that uses filler substances to improve wrinkles, furrows and irregularities or to increase volume. More superficial fillers may also improve skin hydration. In clinical practice, hyaluronic acid, a non-permanent filler, is preferred because of its better safety profile.

Several brands are available, including Restylane, Art Filler FillMed and Juvederm. They vary in viscosity, water absorption capacity and molecular characteristics. These differences affect the depth at which each product can be injected to achieve the best results, without visible papules and with maximised durability.

Aesthetic indications include age-related loss of facial volume, particularly in the cheeks, deep furrows from the nose to the corners of the mouth and, in some cases, lines between the lower eyelids and the cheekbones. Hyaluronic acid is also commonly used for lip or chin augmentation and to smooth nasal irregularities, improving the shape of the nose.

Fat Grafting

Surgical transfer of the patient’s own fat

PurposeImproves the volume and contour of the face and body using fat harvested from another area of the patient’s own body. In some cases, it may improve skin quality and texture. In the cheekbones, it restores volume and projection, supports the upper eyelid, improves the transition with the skin below in the tear-through area and complements the results of a facelift.
DurationIt depends on the area treated and whether it is combined with other procedures. It may range from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
AnaesthesiaGeneral anaesthesia, except for minor procedures, which may be performed under local anaesthesia with or without sedation.

What is it?

Fat grafting, also called fat transfer, fat injection or lipofilling, is a surgical procedure — unlike hyaluronic acid filling, which is non-surgical — that uses the patient’s own fat to fill irregularities and furrows or to increase volume.

Aesthetic indications include age-related loss of facial volume, particularly in the cheeks, deep furrows from the nose to the corners of the mouth and, in some cases, lines between the lower eyelids and the cheekbones. It is also used for lip augmentation and may smooth irregularities resulting from poorly performed liposuction or from injuries.

Breast or buttock volume enhancement using the patient’s own fat, including the procedure known as a Brazilian Butt Lift, is currently one of the most requested aesthetic procedures.

The fat required for limited liposculpture is obtained through one or more 3–5 mm incisions and is usually harvested from the abdomen or thigh.

The procedure has the advantage of complementing liposuction in other areas by using the removed fat.

Chemical Peeling

Controlled renewal of the superficial layers of the skin

PurposeImproves the appearance and texture of the skin, acne sequelae, superficial wrinkles, freckles and spots.
DurationApproximately 30 minutes to 1 hour for localised areas and up to 2 hours for the full face.
AnaesthesiaGenerally not required; topical anaesthetics may be used.

What is it?

Chemical Peeling improves wrinkled, blemished, irregularly pigmented or sun-damaged skin by using a chemical solution to remove the superficial layers. It works best on light, thin skin with superficial wrinkles. Depending on the intended depth, glycolic acid — an alpha-hydroxy acid or AHA —, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid or phenol may be used. Phenol produces a deeper effect and carries greater risks.

One of the most commonly used agents is trichloroacetic acid, or TCA, which is available in formulations that reach different depths according to the treatment goals. It may be used in more frequent treatments that leave an appearance similar to sunburn during the following days, or as a single deeper treatment, with skin peeling for approximately one week.

The depth and frequency may be adapted to the requirements of the patient’s personal life.

Frequently asked questions

Direct answers to common questions about the treatments presented on this page.

What is B. Toxin used for?

B. Toxin reduces expression lines caused by contraction of the facial muscles, may raise the eyebrows and helps correct facial asymmetries, including sequelae of facial paralysis.

How long does a B. Toxin treatment take?

The treatment takes approximately 15 minutes.

When does B. Toxin start working and how long does it last?

The effect appears after three to four days and usually lasts four to six months. When treatment is not repeated, the original muscle movement returns spontaneously.

What precautions are needed after B. Toxin?

Exercise and exposure to intense heat should be avoided during the first 24 to 48 hours.

What is hyaluronic acid used for in the face?

Hyaluronic acid may restore or increase volume, improve wrinkles, furrows and irregularities and temporarily increase projection in selected facial areas.

Is hyaluronic acid filling a surgical procedure?

No. It is a non-surgical procedure performed with filler substances. Fat grafting, in contrast, is a surgical procedure.

How long does hyaluronic acid last?

Longevity depends on the depth, location and product used and may range from six to eighteen months.

Can I work on the day of a filler treatment?

Yes. It is possible to work on the same day, although some areas may remain swollen or red for one or two days.

What is fat grafting?

Fat grafting is a surgical procedure that uses the patient’s own fat to fill irregularities and furrows or to increase volume.

Where is the fat used in fat grafting harvested?

The fat is usually harvested from the abdomen or thigh through one or more 3–5 mm incisions.

How long does fat grafting take?

The duration depends on the area treated and any associated procedures and may range from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Is the result of fat grafting permanent?

Approximately 30–50% of the grafted fat may be reabsorbed over 6 to 12 months. The result then usually becomes final and definitive, although major weight changes may alter the fat volume.

What is Chemical Peeling used for?

Chemical Peeling improves the appearance and texture of the skin, acne sequelae, superficial wrinkles, freckles and spots.

How long is recovery after TCA Chemical Peeling?

New skin forms within five to ten days and redness may fade over several weeks. Sun protection is essential during this period.

How long do the results of Chemical Peeling last?

Longevity depends on the purpose and depth of treatment, but the result generally lasts for several years.
